During difficult times I was encouraged to take small steps through quotations from many sources, some biblical, some from well known public figures, some anonymous. I hope these selected quotations and images from around the world guide your steps through life.

Strength is an unseen act of kindness. Strength gives time when in a hurry. Strength accepts failures. Strength is a word of encouragement. Strength is humility. Strength treats all equally. Strength hurts. Strength is love. Let the gentleness of a butterfly be your strength.	3rd June "A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe With a Scottish loch, beauty is there to behold - although, as with people, we may have to go the extra mile to find it.
21st May "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you." - Proverbs 4:6 (Bible NIV) We're tempted towards quick and easy 'feel-goods', perhaps buying something we don't really need (nor can afford). We buy on credit without thought of tomorrow. Wisdom looks at the long term, not the short term 'feel-goods'.	27th August "Pleasant it to behold great encounters of warfare arrayed over the plains, with no part of yours in peril." - Lucretius Protecting what matters is part of life - battles have to be fought.

Don't let life pass by, bring in change, try something different. If it doesn't work, so be it, you tried and learned a lesson. Try again.
28th October "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt Life is rarely black and white - nor exactly as we'd like it. Work with what you have.	9th November "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." - Proverbs 16:18 (Bible NIV) Don't let pride takeover, like a wild animal know when to stand down - you don't have to win everytime.
July Title Page "How little a thing can make us happy when we feel that we have earned it." - Mark Twain Small acts of kindness water happiness.	13th July "What is great in man is that he is a bridge and not a goal." - Friedrich Nietzsche Be the bridge that carries a child to adulthood, or a colleague to a better job, or a friend to a better place, or a neighbour to higher ground.
7th May "You'll burn out, and the people right along with you. This is way too much for you - you can't do it alone." - Exodus 18:18 (Bible MSG) When your mind feels full to bursting and nothing more can be squeezed in, when you're swimming hard upstream but not moving forward - pray and seek help from those around. Shining stars burn out when left alone.	6th April "Even the knowledge of my own fallibility cannot keep me from making mistakes. Only when I fall do I get up again." - Vincent Van Gogh Our gymnastics daughter took a fall that knocked her confidence. With time she regained her confidence. It wasn't a quick recovery, it was slow and hard work, but it happened and a lesson was learned - mistakes are part of life and we recover.
29th April "It is great wealth to a soul to live frugally with a contented mind." - Lucretius Scottish lochs provide more peace of mind than materialist wealth.	5th May "Always be joyful." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (Bible NLT) This is not to say all circumstances are joyful, but we should look towards the brighter side of life and celebrate success rather than focusing on the negative.
3rd September "Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love." - Lao Tzu Perhaps the greatest beneficiary of an act of kindness is not the receiver, but the giver. Lend a helping hand.	24th October "It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it." - Benjamin Franklin Reputations are like wild flowers, they survive the long winter, grow in open safe environments and remain beautiful for a period of time. Once lost former glory takes time to recover.

Probably not - we hide behind smoke screens. Wisdom benefits those who have the courage to learn, adapt and change.
